Event Details

Held monthly, In The Round at The Vanguard is inspired by the sessions at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, among many others, where four singer/songwriters get together to play their own songs, each others, some covers - and tell a few stories along the way. Expect a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration with an incredible evening of music across two sets.

The event takes place with a unique set up; artists taking the stage on the floor of the venue, with guests invited to sit around the songwriters as they perform - just like they do at the Bluebird in Nashville!

The 18th instalment of In The Round at The Vanguard will feature the night's curator Colin Jones, along with Marcus Gordon (Spookyland), Maia Marsh and Sasha March.

COLIN JONES

Colin Jones' neo-blues sound intertwines Blues and R&B with vocals that deftly push and pull from raspy whisper to full throttle growl then back again. The result: a potently present, soul-driven sound that leaves listeners discovering more at each encounter.
Jones' self-taught journey honours music as a cathartic experience and figuratively places the musician at a release valve, wielding aural control over human emotion.
Upon his debut Jones quickly gained reputation as one of Sydney's best new acts, he has since played at massive events including King Street Crawl, Mojo Bush Beats and shared stages with the likes of Julia Jacklin, Winterbourne, Melody Pool and blues legend Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges. Following the successful release of his debut single "Mama Don't Weep" the track received immediate support from radio stations across Australia while reaching number 3 on Australian Music Radio Airplay Project's regional charts. 2019 brings Colin Jones to a new home in Southern California and the anticipated release of his first studio EP, with the single "Ain't No Devil" having just hit the Australian blues charts.
"I hope people see something of themselves in my music. Maybe they'll find a kind of truth. It's raw, it's unpredictable, it's fluid and I want it to surprise you. It's an abandoned Camaro in the middle of the desert covered in weeds and wildflowers. It's the story of how it got there."
