Farmer & The Owl, Village Sounds
Hockey Dad // White Blanks // Sun Sap // Archy Punker
Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Boronia and a sold-out Australian tour, Hockey Dad can now confirm the party will continue - announcing a run of shows across regional Australia. Hitting the road this February and March, the duo will bring their distinctive brand of surf rock to towns in NSW, Western Australia and Victoria - promising more of their notoriously high-energy performances - and maybe even a few more shoeys along the way.
2016 has been the biggest year yet for Zach Stephenson (guitar/vocals) and Billy Fleming (drums). In addition to their sold-out Australian tour - from which crowds are still recovering - the duo embarked on their first North American headline tour, popped over to play for their mates in New Zealand, stopped by triple j for Like A Version, and returned for a huge homecoming reception at Yours & Owls festival in their native Wollongong. 2017 will also see Hockey Dad head back to America for SXSW 2017.
Growing up on the stages of small bars in Wollongong since mid-2013, have graduated to bigger and better stages each time they've hit the road. Growing interest in the band led to national tours alongside the likes of Bad/Dreems and DZ Deathrays, and they were named the winners of triple j's Unearthed competition, landing them a spot on Byron Bay's Falls Festival over the new year.
Hockey Dad's story is simple: best mates first, band second, and their music flows from their surroundings: sunny and jangly guitar driven rock complete with anthemic choruses. Yet please do not mistake their laid back vibes for anything but tight execution and a drive to share their good times with the world.
