Miners are a group known for an all-terrain approach to indie rock, from the fringes of noise to the meeker, more earnest sounds of midwest emo & dreampop. The release is the first to feature all three members, with a lineup settling on Blake Clee, Nick Johnson & Wilson Harris in 2016.

                       

The brainchild of Shellharbour resident Blake Clee, Miners began back in 2011 as a studio project

                       

for Clee which saw a modest following on soundcloud and some attention from Triple J Unearthed. Unfazed by this, the live iteration of the band wouldn’t coalesce until Blake responded to an ad online from Sydney resident Nick Johnson, who was interested in meeting someone with broader tastes than his own. One hard drive later, the two would begin collaborating in early 2013.

                       

With the eventual addition of Wilson Harris on drums in 2015 and a debut of this lineup at the Bad Day Out festival that year, the band would go on to tour the east coast in support of a tape called Pala, released through Strange Pursuits, a label run by Sam Wilkinson (Shrapnel, Uncle Pit, Day Ravies) which would see the group gain a reputation for no frills and searing volumes.

                       

By 2019, Miners had a whole vault of songs but only half a dozen of them out in the world. Their reputation lied in their elusive live shows, often appearing out of nowhere with a fresh batch of songs. This approach would see them play legendary bills alongside King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Zeahorse, Shining Bird, Preoccupations, Horror My Friend, The Laurels, Lowtide and Step Panther.

                       

Recorded in late 2019, Miners is the culmination of several years of preparation, pre production and mixing, handing the reigns over only for engineering and mastering. It is finally ready to be out in the world.
