Human Noise and HEKKA, two of the Sydney underground’s most captivating acts, announce a one-off double headline show at The Lansdowne on October 11.
There is something undeniably frenetic about the razor sharp songwriting of post-punk 4-piece Human Noise. With the releases of Backwater and Regulate earlier in the year the band have hinted at a broader body of work to come. With rigid drum machine patterns, gritty synths and off-kilter time signatures, both tracks mark a page turn for the band as they delve into new sonic worlds while staying true to their agitated, introspective brand of rock.
HEKKA is an instrumental trio who marry loops, pulses, sampling and sequencing with the intensity of a live ensemble, asserting themselves as one of the most exciting groups to emerge from Sydney in many years. With nods to New York’s downtown loft scene or London’s gritty nu-jazz wave, the trio deftly tread terrain somewhere on the fringes of electronic music, post rock and contemporary jazz - navigating driving breakbeats and meditative soundscapes to anthemic melodies and cathartic climaxes. The results are iconoclastic, unpredictable and entirely their own.
"Compelling, beguiling, exhilarating...embracing elements of minimalist repetition, romantic lyrical flourishes, deft harmonic hooks and fractured electronic dance music." - The Age
"thrillingly distinctive" - Sydney Morning Herald
