CUB SPORT ANNOUNCE MASSIVE END OF YEAR TOUR

Presented by triple j, Village Sounds & Umbrella.

Brisbane's Cub Sport have had a career-defining year with their debut album 'This Is Our Vice'. Returning after a break from the spotlight, Cub Sport emerged earlier this year with a brand new record under their arm and a new sense of determination. The time away gave them some perspective - now older, wiser, and with more stories to tell - 'This Is Our Vice' was more personal than ever before.

The album didn't disappoint. The Music described it as "a slice of gated-synth-dappled dream-pop goodness", and Tonedeaf noted it as a "summery new pop gem". Their latest single 'Come On Mess Me Up' became one of the biggest triple j hits of the year with the conceptual video proving one of the most moving music clips of the year. From there, the indie/pop four piece were selected to support The 1975 for their arena Splendour In The Grass sideshows, gaining them a whole legion of new fans ahead of their own sold out headline tour.

More recently, their stunning Like a Version performance of Kanye West's 'Ultralight Beam' was one of the standout covers in Like A Version history.

PRAISE FOR 'ULTRALIGHT BEAM':

"Everybody go home. Cub Sport just did the best Like a Version of 2016" - Tone Deaf
"Nailed it. Took the hammer and took the nail and fucking smashed that thing into the wood" - Pedestrian
"Easily one of the best of the year" - Zan Rowe, triple j
"We didn't think Kanye could be reworked into a gentle lullaby but the harmonies compiled towards the end of the cover does just that, leaving you calmed and a little breathless." - AAA Backstage

To round out 2016 in style, the band are hitting the road in October and November on their biggest national tour to date. The band's tour will kick off in Adelaide and wind its way around the country including three Under 18s shows in in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. This latest announcement has Cub Sport reflecting on their year so far;

"2016 has been a really exciting year for Cubbies! With 2 months playing overseas then coming home to our first ever sold out national tour, we've been blown away by the amount of love and encouragement we've received.

When we were making This Is Our Vice, we just wanted it to be genuine and hoped that it would connect with people in a meaningful way. Getting to know our listeners (on the Internet and irl at shows) and hearing first hand what the album means for them has been amazing - it's more special than we could have hoped for.

We can't wait to get back on the road! This time around we're stoked to be hitting Perth and doing a few under-18 shows as well! "

They will be joined on the tour by Bec Sandridge, a nomadic pop/punk logomaniac with a guitar swagger reminiscent of St. Vincent, and the delivery of new wave icons like Deborah Harry and David Byrne. Sandridge's single In The Fog, In The Flame was met with an insatiable response, she won Triple J Unearthed, signed to Farmer & The Owl, wowed audiences at Bigsound and is soon to release her brand new EP.
