Grunge-pop trailblazers.” – Australian Guitar Magazine

It's got the classic quiet-loud grunge rock dynamics, nailed to a lyric that reflects Sophie's split feelings of confidence.”

“Bright hooks shining above a driving, guitar-backed instrumental that packs the thick, 90s grunge-esque punch of their past work with the sleek polished feeling that feels like a new era.” – Pilerats

After returning to the spotlight late last year with the vibrant, infectious new single ‘With Or Without,’ Tired Lion  drop the accompanying video.

Directed by The Creases’ Joe Agius, the dizzying video captures Tired Lion’s irrepressible frontwoman Sophie Hopes singing to camera through a fish-eye lens as she whips around venues and bars in her new hometown of Brisbane.

As their first single following the release of their debut album (2016’s triple j Feature Record Dumb Days) and the 2018 departure of founding member and guitarist, Matt Tanner, ‘With Or Without’ marked a new era for the band.

Laden with hooks, addictively crunchy guitar lines and sweeping, atmospheric production care of producer Luke Boerdam (of Violent Soho fame), the song stands as one of the most confessional of Hopes’ songwriting career; candidly shedding light on the turmoil she experienced upon the departure of her friend, confidant and collaborator.

Thankfully Tired Lion, now comprised of Hopes, drummer Ethan Darnell, bassist Nick Vasey and live member Joel Martin, strive onward. Armed with their new single, the band are now poised to hit the road for a quick East Coast tour starting on March 1st, including intimate club shows in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney

Tired Lion stand as torchbearers for emotionally driven songwriting in this country, thanks to Hopes’ no-holds-barred, heart-on-her-sleeve, trademark lyricism – and nowhere is that signature lyrical style more evident than in ‘With Or Without’. See it live and loud when the band plays this March.
