Sydney four-piece and BigSound performers Tin Sparrow have announced details of their new single due out in September and a blistering weekend of headlining shows this October.

Fresh from releasing their second EP Fair & Verdant Woods in April, playing sold-out EP launches (GoodGod, The Grace Darling) and touring with Boy & Bear on their massive 29 date national tour in May and June - the indie-folk outfit took some time out to write new material, break arms (theirs not other peoples!), get haircuts and generally embrace life not on the road.

After a two-month hiatus, band members Matt Amery, Mark Piccles, Dean McLeod and Sonja Van Hummel regrouped, armed with a selection of killer new tracks including their yet-to-be-titled new single, which will make its first public outing at their BigSound performance at Mustang Bar, on Thursday 13 September.

Featuring infectious hooks and sweet harmonies with Amery's distinctive voice as narrator - trademarks which have seen Tin Sparrow's tracks played on Grey's Anatomy, Body of Proof and Ringer - the new single will see the independent band venture into unexplored territory on the Tom Iansek (Big Scary) produced track.

"Ive always been inspired by Australia's great history of singer-songwriters, so I guess while that voice remains pretty central to Tin Sparrow songs, with our new stuff we're really hoping to take people on a journey, triggering a physical reaction with each of our songs," said Matt Amery, lead singer.

Having spent the last few months writing and experimenting with new sounds for their forthcoming third EP, which is due for release in early 2013 - Tin Sparrow's October dates will showcase a young band fast becoming one of the country's most promising acts.

"The last few months of touring and writing have really helped shape our live show," said guitarist Dean McLeod. "We each take a pretty varied approach to our music and live gigs - and I think in this time we have all found how our different strengths feed into our performances, becoming one cohesive unit. I also can't wait to play our new material, I think it's going to be sick."

National tours with Boy & Bear, Matt Corby and Husky have meant the young band have steadily built up a loyal following across the country. Tin Sparrow's October run of headlining shows promises to sell out, so don't miss out!
