Event Details

One of Australia’s finest Soul & Funk exports are making their way across for their first headline WA show in over 10 years. The Bamboos are coming to the west coast to launch their 11th studio album, This Is How You Do It.

The band are fresh from completing a rapturously received Europe and UK tour which finished with two sell out nights at London’s iconic Jazz Café.

Since forming in 2000 The Bamboos have been recognised worldwide as masters of reinventing Soul & Funk, placing modern songwriting within classic arrangements & production. Since then, they have not stopped moving forward, with multiple shifts in sound and style and an inventive approach to production thats simultaneously adventurous yet familiar.

The band have connected to both genre purists as much as casual music fans by focusing on what’s important: songwriting, groove and powerful vocals

Lead by guitarist / producer / songwriter Lance Ferguson and featuring the powerhouse vocals of Australia’s greatest living soul singer, Kylie Auldist, The Bamboos have been nominated for seven ARIA Awards and four APRA Awards.

BEAT MAGAZINE Yep, This Is How You Do It. Agreed. Always with the funky guitars, sparse, elegant brass, savvy percussion choices and supreme vocal performances. Instant good vibes.”

DOUBLE J (FEATURE ALBUM)Could there be a more appropriate title for The Bamboos' masterclass 11th studio album? After 23 years at the forefront of Melbourne/Naarm's funk and soul scene, the nine-piece sound as vital as ever, laying down imperial grooves and rhythms you can set your watch to.

This follow-up to 2021's Hard Up (one of the best albums of that year) is the perfect sonic pick-me-up. And with the current dark moment the world finds itself in, the prospect of a deep boogie with The 'Boos is more welcome than ever.”
