Formed in 1994, Native Ryme (formally Native Ryme Syndicate pre 2000) became Australia's first Nationally professional Indigenous rap/hip hop music group. In 1998 the group made Australian music history by becoming the first Australian rap/hip hop group to win a certified National Music Award of any kind(vibe/deadly), concreting Native Ryme as icons of Australian urban music.

"It's either you have it or you don't! Native Ryme have it." - Tex Perkins (The Cruel Sea)

2000 saw the group gain management from multi-platinum/multi-ARIA Award winning artist Martin Lee (Regurgitator) which saw the group release their first major single "Together" which was a collaboration with Australian rock legends Tex Perkins and The Cruel Sea, and also featured a special appearance by the legendary Kev Carmody. The single featured on the 2001 Festival/Mushroom Records album compilation release "Corroboration" which also featured Kylie Minogue, Dan Sultan an others gaining the group Gold/Platinum sales, national high rotation radio air play and the album an ARIA nomination all in the very same year.

Native Ryme toured nationally along-side Multi-ARIA/Multi-Platinum Australian rock legends The Cruel Sea throughout 2001 - 2003. Gaining the group recording deal offers from many of the leading majors. 2004 Saw the group tour with Grammy Award winning rap icons Naughty By Nature (US). After which the group were personally offered recording deals in the USA with Naughty By Nature though due to exhaustion, and their commitment to working in remote Indigenous communities, Native Ryme withdrew from the public music industry and have spent the last 8 years designing and facilitating youth mentoring music sessions cross the width and breadth of Australia.

With a touring history estimated at over 800 live performances, a gold/platinum hit and Multiple National Music awards Native Ryme have never release a full album.

2012 sees these hip hop icons return to the international music industry with their legendary live performances throughout all states and territories that have caught the attention of some of the World's biggest superstars and to finally release their much awaited, well over due debut LP in 18 years entitled "The Debut Recordings Volume 1."
