Australian jazz vocalist Lillian Albazi and her band are making their debut in Sydney for an exclusive one night only show at Lazybones. Having just completed their national tour in celebration of their highly anticipated debut album, After-Image which was released in June 2021 at The JazzLab in Melbourne, they are coming together again for an east coast tour to celebrate the past year of music making.

Lillian first came to prominence at twenty-two years old with her quintet, debuting at the 2016 Melbourne International Jazz Festival. Since then, she has toured Australia extensively playing at key venues and festivals including MONA Museum, Devonport Jazz Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Merrigong Music Theatre’s Music Lounge, Brisbane Jazz Club and Melbourne Recital Centre.

On the captivating debut album After-Image, Lillian and her band renew the familiar with deft, complex takes on classic and contemporary standards, performing a range of modern jazz styles with wit, playfulness and sombre romanticism. From the rapid grooves of the opening medley, You Don’t Know What Love Is/Lullaby Of Birdland, to the haunting closing track of Rowland S. Howard’s Autoluminescent, After-Image confirms Albazi as of a bold new voice in Australian jazz.

Lillian and her band will be presenting repertoire from After-Image coupled with new material that they have been workshopping in the past couple of weeks of being home. This is an evening not to be missed.
