E^ST
Ahead of her EP release on 18 September and tour dates in the following weeks, E^ST is pleased to share the new video for The Alley, which premiered on i-D overnight.
The 17 year old from NSW's Central Coast demonstrates her impressive range on the EP, the follow-up to her well-received debut, the Old Age EP. From the urgent beats of the title track to the nostalgic pop of Disappear, this EP marks the evolution of an exciting new talent.
Directed by Dan Graetz, whose previous video credits include Violent Soho (Saramona Said, Fur Eyes, Covered In Chrome), The Jungle Giants (A Pair of Lovers) and Ballpark Music (She Only Loves Me, Surrender), the compelling video was shot in Brisbane where Dan, and the video's producer Benjamin Evans, are based. Says Dan:
'I wanted to show disintegration of society in a subtle layered way so we took the repetition of Groundhog Day or Run Lola Run and placed it in an increasingly Orwellian world. Mel gave a killer, consistent performance in freezing conditions, my crew pulled off miracles on a shoestring, we learned to make our own Molotov cocktails and no-one died - everybody won.'
The Alley EP is out 18 September via Warner Music.
Available for pre-order from Friday 21 August.
