19 June 2021 - 3:00pm - 5:00pm - Djoliba Rattler Residency at Kindred Bandroom

Mark Ferrie (Bass), George Butrumlis (Accordion) and Ray Pereira (Percussion) bring their wealth of musical knowledge and experience to add depth and flavour to the songs of Aboubacar Djelike Kouyate.
Aboubacar was born in Djoliba into a traditional musical family (known as Griots) from the West African country of Mali and has been playing music since he was a young boy. His beautiful voice, accompanied by his guitar and the West African harp-like instrument the Ngoni, commands your attention as his lyrics tell stories of life, loss, happiness and grief.
Universal themes we can all relate to.
George Butrumlis is a virtuoso accordion player whose music has ranged from traditional Greek Rembetika through Zydeco music to pop and jazz. He is recognised as a leader in his field and his musicality and skills have enhanced hundreds of recordings.
Mark Ferrie can be regarded as a founding member of the contemporary music scene in Melbourne. He was an original member of seminal bands the Models and Sacred Cowboys and more recently was a long term member of the Rockwiz band on SBS.
Ray Pereira is widely regarded as a pioneer in introducing the polyrhythms of Afrocuban and West African drumming to the wider community in this country. His expertise has been used by a who’s who of Australian music icons from Paul Kelly and Archie Roach to soul divas Renee Geyer and Kate Ceberano and jazz artists Vince Jones, Barney Mcall and Adam Simmons.
These respected musicians will bring their sublime talents to you on Saturday 19th June and 17th July at 3pm at Kindred Bandroom and present a diverse set of original music that will draw you in, soothe your soul and may even entice you to move your feet
