Dicey Riley's have teamed up with Yours & Owls to bring you a free weekly party of punk, rock'n'roll and alternative music.
With bands from both interstate and the home-grown talent pool, music will kick off from 9pm EVERY Saturday with FREE entry.
Welcoming Special Guests:
- Bench Press
Melbourne post-punks Bench Press will release their new album Not The Past, Can't Be The Future on June 28 via Poison City Records. Soon after, the band will take the album out on tour around Australia and New Zealand in July / August.
On their second full-length, Bench Press have refined their sound by maintaining some the frantic aggression of their self-titled debut, but have also brought a tighter approach to both melodicism and structure. Almost every song clocks in at under three minutes as a testament to their 'don't bore us, get to the chorus' philosophy. Bench Press project the wirey minimalism of early Talking Heads and Devo through a lens of heavier late-80s contemporary post-punk in a distinct shade of Melbourne garage. What was once easily categorised as post-punk can just as accurately be described as 'really, really loud pop music' and it's really, really good.
The second taste of Not The Past, Can't Be The Future comes via "Old. Self. Doubt", which perfectly exemplifies the Bench Press ethos - it's short, sharp, clean and loud.
- Archy Punker
Archy Punker started as the solo project of Kyle Willoughby banging around in his backyard shed, with his first releases receiving airplay on Triple J/Unearthed and featuring on Farmer & The Owl's Beached Friends compilation.
3 years on, the project has turned itself into a band of best mates. With all eyes set on shows, they've been up and down the east coast with headline shows, festivals like Yours and Owls and playing with the likes of Hockey Dad, Good Boy, Ruby Fields,
Crocodylus, West Thebarton and Step Panther along the way.
- Hot Donnas (NZ)
We're Hot Donnas - four passionate young artists that have been active in the Dunedin music scene for just over a year and a half, creating alternative rock music inspired by Australian punk combined with the alternative surf sound of Dunedin. We seem to have become an extremely popular act among university students in Dunedin and Christchurch, and froth providing energetic live performances that resonate with a wide range of young NZers.
- The Darrans
The Darrans are four blokes playing OG punk rock, hard, fast and all round Darran
