Daniel draws comparisons to artists like Big Star and Tobias Jesso Jr

On his debut single Wasted Light earlier this year Daniel drew comparisons to artists like Big Star and Tobias Jesso Jr, with Triple J host Dom Alessio saying of the track "It's like Elliott Smith on a magical mystery tour" and station programmer Richard Kingsmill giving it a 4 star review.
Daniel's latest single All We Do was recently selected as a winner in Triple J Unearthed's NIDA competition. The resulting stop-motion video for the song, composed of 1700 still photographs shot over 5 days in the middle of a Goulburn winter premiered on rage on October 1st. The shoot was cold and demanding, between every photograph the entire scene had to be moved forward while simultaneously moving the camera back, with blankets and tea being brought on for shivering extras between shots.
The track features Joshua Barber on drums, bass and xylophone with award winning composer Jonathan Dreyfus on strings. The production of the song was intentionally cinematic, trying to capture something that wouldn't sound out of place on the soundtrack to a Wes Anderson lm. On the writing of the song itself Daniel said, "All We Do is a love song, but there are also broader themes of finding beauty in imperfection and overcoming dif cult situations by turning them into positive experiences."
Daniel has spent the better part of the last decade writing and recording several albums and touring Australia and the world with Melbourne groups Fire Underground and Dancing Heals. As both bands came to an end, finding himself with an ever-growing collection of home demos and no outlet, Trakell went into Abbotsford studio The Aviary to record his debut solo record with talented friend Joshua Barber (producer to Gretta Ray, percussionist for Gotye and Archie Roach)
