AARON MICHAEL ALBUM LAUNCH, ALSO FEAT DAN BARNETT, CLAYTON DOLEY, JEFF DUFF, EVELYN DUPRAI AND STEVE EDMONDS

The debut album launch from arguably Australia's funkiest and jazziest saxophonists, with a genuine all star list of special guests.

Aaron Michael has had an impressive career, spanning 17 years as a session player in just about every genre of music. Most recently he has been touring with UK jazzfunk legends The Brand New Heavies, and has previously worked with Tower of Power, Katie Noonan, Wendy Mathews, James Morrison, Sonic Mayhem Orchestra, Go West, Michael Bolton and the Jersey Boys theatre production.

Simply titled "Aaron Michael" the new album features a line-up of some of Sydney's finest musicians, each bringing experience from across jazz's wide spectrum. The band will be here to launch the album live:

Dieter Kleemann - Guitars

Matt McMahon - Piano,Keys

Duncan Brown - Bass

Paul Derricott - Drums

But that's not all! Joining Aaron tonight will be some of the celebrated talents that Aaron has been sharing the stage with lately, including Jeff Duff, Dan Barnett, Evelyn Duprai, Steve Edmonds and Clayton Doley.

Aaron and Jeff go way back, collaborating in 2005 to produce Jeff's two albums "Ground Control to Frank Sinatra" and "Lost in the Stars". Jeff's baritone vocals have been one of the uniquely wonderful things about the Sydney live scene for years, pushing the boundaries of rock, soul and jazz with bands like The Prophets and Kush.

Dan Barnett is one of this country's most popular jazz singers, trombonisst and bandleaders. He was born to swing.

Clayton Doley is Australia's finest Hammond organist and mainman of The Hands with brother Lachy Doley. If deep soul, funk and groove are your thing, Clayton is the man. His new album recorded in Toronto, Canada, has just been released, a cookin' blend of jazz, old skool soul and pop savvy.

Evelyn Duprai's deeply soulful vocals have been heard all over Australia with some of our leading bands. Most recently she's taken a new direction with an album of jazz versions of LRB songs, called Reminiscing, which she launched here at Blue Beat to huge acclaim.

Steve Edmonds is arguably the leading blues-rock guitarist around, his playing having added grunt and grace to the sounds of Jimmy Barnes, Renee Geyer, Doug Parkinson, Billy Thorpe, Delta Goodrem, Margaret Urlich, Chain, Hippos, Matt Finish and Shannon Noll among many.

Aaron's album will be available to purchase on the night at $20. Pre-book your tix for a $5 discount on every album you buy.
