100% Home-Grown Concert: Local song makers help tell our stories, contribute to our culture and give voice to our communities.

Highland FM’s 100% Home-Grown has brought together its featuredArtists of the Monthinto the one big concert. The stunning array of local talent includes:

AMBER KENNY - ARTIST OF THE MONTH - JULY

7:00PM:

Amber Kenny’s love of music began in the Blue Mountains prior to relocating to the Southern Highlands with her family, horses and Maton guitar.

A late arrival on the music scene, Amber picked up her guitar in 2014 to finally compose the songs that had been “sitting inside” her for many years. Her natural vocal rawness and beauty creates beguiling melodies with honest lyricism that illustrates a gift beyond her years of experience.

Her passion as a singer songwriter is borne from hours of listening to Lauren Hill, Tina Harrod, Melissa Etheridge, Joni Mitchell and Patty Griffin, all of whom she’s lovingly studied as well as experiencing their live performances many times.

Amber Kenny's debut EP “Out In The Open” was released March 2022.

DAN CHALLIS - ARTIST OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER

8:00PM:

Dan Challis is a singer, songwriter and guitarist who melds lyrically-driven acoustic country music, with a story-telling focus. His songs centre on the lived-experience and befit his troubadour ethos; living out the very life he tells stories about through his music.

Dan has captivated audiences both in Australia and North America. It was there in 2020 he penned the songs for his most recent body of work, ‘No Lonely Road’;  his sophomore album.

The Fremantle-born singer songwriter credits his development as an artist and lyricist to influences such as Paul Kelly, Lior and The Waifs; as well American & Canadian folk musicians, born out of the 60s folk music revival; such as James Taylor, Don McLean and Neil Young.

Dan Challis is no doubt, a songwriter who cares deeply about his craft.

JODI PHILLIS - ARTIST OF THE MONTH - AUGUST

9:00PM:

Jodi Phillis is an Australian award winning, multi-Aria nominated singer, songwriter, composer and artist who started out in the early 90’s with alt-rock band, The Clouds. The band earned a gold record for debut album Penny Century and went on to achieve a global following.

Jodi has released five critically acclaimed solo albums, with her sixth album "We Need To Be Free" out now. She has  spearheaded niche musical groups The Dearhunters, Roger Loves Betty and The Glamma Rays, influencing countless budding musicians along the way.

With a fine ear, adept at crafting beguiling melodies and harmonies and deeply personal, sometimes mystical lyrics, Jodi follows her genre-defying muse wherever she leads.

Expressing themes of transformation through pain and loss, universal and cosmic themes of love and transcendence and deeply human stories track Jodi Phillis' own internal journey.
