Cat Power Moon Pix 20th Anniversary
Australian exclusive

Marking 20 years since the release of her breakthrough album Moon Pix, Chan Marshall (aka Cat Power) returns to the Sydney Opera House, debuting this seminal precursor to the current cultural explorations of female experience. Potent for new and original fans alike, Moon Pix's anti bubblegum pop version of girl power is a heart rending exploration of fragility and strength.

Performing the album in full with her original collaborators Jim White (Xylouris White, Dirty Three) and Mick Turner (Dirty Three), Cat Power's melancholy lyrics and bewitching vocals will pour out across the dreamlike expanse of the Concert Hall; a hypnotic reminder of her timeless vocal abilities. Recorded in Melbourne over 11 days, Moon Pix is perhaps even more relevant now than it was upon it's release. Hailed for its dark, honest and unguarded lyrics, Marshall's ability to tell a powerful tale of innate fragility is especially compelling against the expressive, urgent arrangements seeping through every track.

Share a trip through her poignant breakthrough album as Cat Power reminds us why she stood with Patti Smith and Debbie Harry, paving the way for women as singer songwriters.
