Party Dozen return to Melbourne this November with special guests.
Party Dozen is a sonic project loosely based on improvisation, featuring saxophonist Kirsty Tickle and percussionist Jonathan Boulet. In 2017 Party Dozen released their critically-acclaimed debut LP ‘The Living Man’ through their own label, Grupo Records. Both artists describe this record as their most satisfying musical release to date, and it received airplay on Triple J, 4ZZZ and 2SER as well as being awarded Album of the Week on FBi Radio.
Since then, Party Dozen have been honing their craft on stage, pushing the boundaries of how much noise two people can produce from their instruments, and exploring and furthering the limits of their own artistry and ability. The video for single ‘Straights’ received notable praise, and helped the band receive a showcase spot at Bigsound 2017, pushing them out of Sydney DIY obscurity. Known for a loud, wild and technically enthralling live show, Party Dozen have have been included on the lineup for such festivals as Falls, MONA FOMA, Bad Friday, Dark Mofo and Farmer and the Owl and have shared the stage with the likes of Liars (UK), These New South Whales, Tropical F*ck Storm and Body Type. In 2019, Party Dozen released the eponymous single 'Party Dozen', the first taste of their second album, due in early 2020. They also made a second visit to Big Sound, prompting Beat to say " a brutal racket that recalls the genius of Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon" and The Music to say "Fuck, Party Dozen are so good... a phenomenal live show!".
