Music For Freedom has been brought about in response to the abhorrent treatment of refugees in Australia by our govt. and a desire by a group of musicians and activists to bring an end to these injustices. Alison Battisson is a Human Rights For All lawyer doing incredible work behind the scenes with her team to provide free legal representation to the refugees. Apsara Sabaratnam is a long-running activist in Melbourne who protests outside Home Affairs every Wednesday. Mcb Joy is a refugee who has just this month been released after 9 years in detention and Arnold Zable is a writer, story-teller and human rights activist. Each of these people will share their stories and hopes in between performances from a wonderful line of Melbourne musicians, ending the evening with the instrumental, classical Arab music from Tarab band!
