EK AASHA
Mayur Katariya - 123minutes
Born a young boy in India, Aashish soon becomes filled with the desire to become female teacher. Learning the differences between men and women,
Aashish's coming of age is filled with violence, sex, hatred, confusion, and a lifetime attempt to learn to who she really is in a culture that doesn't support
people who don't conform to standard binary gender roles. In this debut feature film by Melbourne director Mayur Katariya, all transgender roles are performed
by transgendered actors in an attempt to showcase the real troubles young transgender people suffer in India.
