For many years Matt Hanley has been a journeyman of the musical world. After a childhood spent drifting from Melbourne to far North Queensland and everywhere in between he found himself in Sydney as a wide eyed country boy, washing dishes and awaiting the calling of his destiny.

Over the prevailing years, Matty would go on to become one of Sydney's most in demand session guitarists as he fell into a creative yet rootless life that has led him to play with such Australian greats as Brian Cadd, Troy Cassar-Daly, Gondwanaland, The Bushwacker, Jenny Morris, Glen Shorrock and Grace Knight.

Eventually, Matt left Sydney - drifted north, drifted south, toured Europe, returned and left again. All the while Matt wrote songs which he kept largely to himself; songs that captured the stories of lives, experiences, perceptions and his own tenuous journey. All the while Matt gigged relentlessly.

Then over the last years, with his 50th birthday looming, Matt began to put his roots down back in old Sydney town and gather around him some of his long time musical compatriots. As the acclaim grew for Matt as a world class guitarist and soulful singer-song writer in his own right, he knew it was time to capture his songs and stories for posterity and to do justice to the originality of his creative life.

The result of all this is Matt's critically acclaimed and long awaited album "Menassiance". A musical journey embracing Blues, Soul and Funk and infused throughout with Matt's insight, experience and humor.
