LIZ STRINGER HEADS TO UK IN MAY TO RECORD NEW ALBUM AND TOUR, SAYS GOODBYE FOR NOW WITH SPECIAL FROM BRUNSWICK TO BRIXTON SOLO SHOW AT MELBOURNE'S BRUNSWICK BALLROOM, SATURDAY MAY 13.

Following a busy 2021 and 2022, and a packed start to 2023, Melbourne's own Liz Stringer is set to head off to London for a few months to record her new album at Brixton's Iguana Studios. The recording will be Liz's most ambitious recording project yet, and will be followed by select shows around the UK and Europe. Local audiences will have the opportunity to wish Liz the best when she plays a special see you later From Brunswick to Brixton solo show at the Brunswick Ballroom on Saturday May 13.

The new album will be the follow up to Liz's acclaimed sixth studio album First Time Really Feeling, which was released on Milk! Records in April 2021. The album was Liz's first entry into the ARIA Top 20, and won an AIR Award for Best Blues and Roots Album as well as her first Music Victoria Awards nomination, for Best Solo Artist.

First Time Really Feeling helped Stringer to achieve a new level of industry and audience recognition after many years of being Melbourne’s ‘best kept secret’, and set the stage for her to spend most of 2022 with Midnight Oil, working as their backing vocalist and support act in Australia and around the world.

February of this year saw Stringer and fellow Midnight Oil guest William Crighton release a cover of the Oils' "Golden Age", recorded at Jim Moginie’s Oceanic Studio, and featuring Moginie on bass and Rob Hirst on drums. Stringer and Crighton then undertook a joint tour, which continues through to April 1. This month Liz was also the Port Fairy Folk Festival’s 2023 Artist of the Year, and performed two triumphant sets at the iconic festival with her band.
