JEZ MEAD LAUNCHES NEW SINGLE Towns Too Small

Jez Mead is the archetypal slow burner. Relying on a DIY attitude and an unyielding touring ethic, Mead has been building a fire of support through appearances at almost every major roots festival in the country and unwaveringly positive word-of-mouth.

Taken from 2010 album, Beard Of Bees, his new single, Towns Too Small typifies the intimacy and raw emotion that his fans constantly return to.

Built over a chorus of foot-stomping and swampy handclaps, Mead mixes a potent combination of whiskey-fuelled blues with an emotionally charged diatribe of heartbreak and escapism. If Jez were a barman, Towns Too Small would certainly be his signature drink and blues fans better prepare for a big night.

To think that Mead has achieved so much without mainstream exposure is testament to his craft, although reviews for the new single are suggesting this troubadour is about to turn a spark into an inferno.

Reverb magazine calls it foot-stomping, folklore brilliance, whilst Cream found it to be rough & masculine. However, Martin Jones from Rhythm describes the most earnest scene: In Towns Too Small Mead is dark, relentless, driving and therefore, poignant. Hes sitting you down and staring you in the eye rather than buying you a drink and dragging you onto the dance floor.

Jez will be touring nationally in support of Towns Too Small through November and December; joined by Lanie Lane, celebrating the release of her long awaited debut single 'What Do I Do.

Over the past 18 months during her hectic touring schedule, Lanie has garnered both a loyal & curious audience, winning over listeners with her charming personality, unmistakable voice and her own unique mix of blues, pop, jazz, and country music.

She has carved her own path during this time, selling out her own headline shows at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, performing to thousands at the Annual Sydney Fifties Fair, having special guests such as Tim Rogers, Julia Stone and Lisa Mitchell perform on stage with her and having toured with acts as diverse as The Snowdroppers, Jon Cleary (USA) and Marcia Hines.
