Tessie Overmyer Quartet - Tessie has established herself as one of the most exciting, dynamic saxophone players in the Australian jazz scene, rapidly gaining her recognition for a maturity that appears well beyond her years.

Tessie’s skill and unique voice both as a saxophonist and composer have been recognised in the form of a nomination for the prestigious Freedman Jazz Fellowship and in being selected as the Sydney Improvised Music Association's Sonic Futures artist for 2023.

Tessie has performed extensively throughout Australia, including at the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues, the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, the Perth International Jazz Festival, and the Sydney International Women's Jazz Festival. She is an in-demand performer, having appeared as a guest artist with the West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra, as a member of the supporting band for the Australian National Jazz Awards, and as a performer at the APRA Art Music Awards.

"Tessie has a gift that can't be learned: a natural flow for the future and the ability to speak the poetry of life and death through her horn." - Barney Mcall

Tessie will be joined by good friends and collaborators, Matt Thomson on piano, Nick Jansen on double bass, and George Greenhill on drums. They will be playing a curated set of original compositions written by Tessie that feature each band member’s highly skilled, thoughtful approach to jazz and improvisation.
