Secret Sounds return with their monthly club night ‘Ground Level’ on Thursday 18 January at The Lansdowne, Downstairs. Showcasing the very best local and emerging talent, alongside surprise international guests. The January edition will feature SHANAE, JUPiTA and CHERRY RYPE
SHANAE
Shanae, the Australian-born South African artist, has been through a re-birth and is ready to share her journey and magical voice with the world. Like so many young artists, Shanae started her professional musical journey putting out tracks just before the pandemic, making an enormous impact in the Australian R&B scene releasing songs produced by some of our brightest producers including Willstah (Ella Mai,OneFour) and Rory Noble (Burna Boy, Ye, Ruel).
JUPiTA
JUPiTA, radiates an ethereal presence through her style and music. If you haven’t heard of this rising talent just yet, her sound consists of a plethora of genres such as Latin pop, Reggaeton, alternative, dance/house, jazz, jungle and R&B. Taking inspiration from some of the industry’s most seasoned artists—Dua Saleh, Rosalía, Amaarae, Solange and Kali Uchis—JUPiTA delivers a versatile sound through her duo-language lyrics.
CHERRY RYPE
21 year old Inner West EORA local Cherry Rype, crafts a soul/alternative/edm infusion that explicitly details the status of being an adolescent struggling with many forms of abuse. Not for the faint hearted, her analogies portrayed within her lyricism select the issues often shameful to be discussed within society, to which it shouldn’t be, that affect many young people. “I treat songwriting and producing as my personal therapist” taking inspiration from MARINA, in her Electra Heart Era, Björk, Piri and Stevie Nicks.
