2013 has seen Gang Of Youths shift from playing to nobody in an inner-city garage to a national tour with hometown heroes Cloud Control, to recently taking the stage at Webster Hall in New York City supporting Smith Westerns and Sky Ferreira -- all within the space of 10 months. Journeying back to Sydney after an extended stint in the United States, Gang Of Youths are set to play alongside critically-acclaimed NYC pop giants Vampire Weekend and Scottish indie rock pioneers Frightened Rabbit as they hit our shores for Laneway Festival.
Fresh off the back of a veritable buzz-fest after New York's CMJ Music Marathon Gang Of Youths will be playing just two headlines shows at The Workers Club in Melbourne and Sydsney's Good God Small Club. The group's year of infancy has seen them featured as NME magazine's number one buzz band in September as well as receive substantial airplay the world over for their first single, Evangelists-from BBC 1 in the UK to KEXP and KCRW in the United States to FBi and JJJ in Australia.
2014 could potentially see the release of GOY's first full-length recording after some months working with mega-producer Kevin McMahon whose recent credits include working with Titus Andronicus, Swans and Real Estate.
This January may be your only chance to see Gang Of Youths attack a stage near you before they head north for the summer festival circuit and a permanent relocation to the USA.
