The Electorate started their life as The Templebears, before splintering off into Big Heavy Stuff, Atticus, The Apartments, Knievel, Imperial Broads and a host of other bands. They reformed in 2016 and in 2018 began recording their debut You Don’t Have Time To Stay Lost, with Tim Kevin (The Apartments/Youth Group/Buddy Glass/Holly Throsby) at the helm. Upon its release in late 2020 Rolling Stone called The Electorate’s debut “one of the finest releases of 2020, and one of the finest debuts to date’, giving the album 4.5 out of 5 stars. 

You Don’t Have Time To Stay Lost was the 2SER album of the week upon release, and was described by Backseat Mafia as “a gorgeous and rich experience: it captures the complex world in which we live in eleven perfect pop songs laced with humility, veracity and just a touch of hope and humour.” You Don’t Have Time To Stay Lost popped up on a few best of 2020 lists and was named by the influential US mag The Big Take Over as “an entire, unexpected triumph’.”
