Tim Sweeney

Broadcaster, club DJ, and label boss Tim Sweeney, aka Beats In Space (BIS) is one of the most respected sources of new music worldwide. The meticulously curated of the BIS radio show garners a cult-like appreciation from Townsville to Timbuktu. In 2010 he launched Beats In Space Records and has released music from artists including Australia's Tornado Wallace, Parasian duo Paradis, as well his own recent output as T&P!

Awesome Tapes From Africa

Brian Shimkovitz fell for the musical gems of West Africa while studying in Ghana on a Fulbright. Blown away by the local music industry & fueled by the exchange of tapes in markets and street corners, Shimkovitz felt compelled to share it, DJing with a tape deck and spreading the word. Awesome Tapes From Africa was born as a means of celebrating and archiving this music - starting as a super dedicated blog, it has now matured into a label that reissues obscure and out of print recordings with artists receiving 50% of the profits.

The Egyptian Lover

As the undisputed of master lover of the Roland TR-808, Egyptian Lover will show you why, and how, and all the different positions. Egyptian Lover breathes life into the machine in his performances that combine DJing and live production with wholehearted worship of the 808 itself. Egyptian Lover's influence can be heard in the early days of West Coast Hip Hop, Miami Bass and continues today with his latest studio offering, 1984, marking a discography that spans 31 years of releases.
