Sarah Liversidge, Carl Pannuzzo and Sime Nugent will bring their sublime unaccompanied harmony singing together with a taste of each of their own music and some guests for this event. A beautiful way to celebrate this festive season.

The trio’s previous sold out reunion show was reviewed by Jessica Nicholas for the Age - “Liversidge’s voice is still a thing of beauty, imbuing lyrics with exquisite honesty whether singing in a half-whisper or a surge of understated passion. Her purity forms the perfect foil for Pannuzzo’s soulful, grain-flecked voice, which can cut to the core of a lyric or float around the melody in imaginative extemporisations. And Nugent still inspires awe as a one-man rhythm section, miraculously conjuring up syncopated basslines, a sizzling hi-hat and an irresistible backbeat slap, before sinking into a resonant, wordless hum with the reverence of a gospel singer.” ★★★★½

Acapelicans are a three part unaccompanied singing group that formed in 1994 between Sarah Liversidge, Carl Pannuzzo and Sime Nugent. The three singers came together from their own bands and the subsequent chord that the trio struck with audiences made them Melbourne favourites. Between 1994 and 2004 Acapelicans released 4 albums and played at venues and festivals around Australia. The group went on to an American tour in 1997 culminating in a win at the Harmony Sweepstakes Singing Competition in Washington and an appearance at South by Southwest in Austin Texas, where the trio were picked up by a European booking agent. From there, Acapelicans toured annually throughout Germany, Austria and other parts of Europe between 1997 and 2004. Highlights included Stimmen Music Festival in Germany and Vienna Jazz Festival. The group also played in New York, Berlin and London along the way.

Nearly two decades later, and by popular demand after recent sold out shows, the trio are delighted to be together for this third reunion show at Brunswick Ballroom on December 18 at 7pm.
