Pearl Jam have recently taken to the stage in Amsterdam to perform a touching emotional tribute to the late Anthony Bourdain. The band kicked off the first show of their European tour by dedicating their show to the late chef with a performance of the band’s 2000 track ‘Long Road’.

Before playing the song, frontman Eddie Vedder made a spoken tribute in Dutch and English, saying  “We dedicate this to Anthony, my friend David, his brother Andrew. They are deep in our hearts tonight and we thank you.”

According to PearlJam.com, the band’s setlist also included a cover of Brandi Carlile’s ‘Again Today’, along with classics like ‘Even Flow’ and ‘Red Mosquito’.

Anthony Bourdain passed away on Friday by an apparent suicide. “It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain,” CNN said in a statement Friday morning.

Pearl Jam released their first new song in five years earlier this year called ‘Can’t Deny Me’. The track takes aim at Donald Trump’s presidency, with lyrics like, “you may be rich but you can’t deny me/got nothing but the will to survive.”

In May, bassist Jeff Ament revealed in a radio interview that the band had plenty of new ideas for an upcoming album in the pipeline, however, plans to release an album soon weren’t concrete due to touring schedules.

“We have a bunch of stuff that’s sort of partly written. Unfortunately, we have rehearsals coming up for Europe and the shows this summer, so it’s in a little bit of a limbo state right now,”
