Watch Dave Grohl and his daughter perform a tear jerking Adele cover

From Paul McCartney to Neil Young, Dave Grohl has shared the stage with a multitude of living legends. Foo Fighters shows are pretty much known for surprising audiences with special guests and experiences that you don’t normally get at your average rock show.

Now, in the most epic move of them all, Dave Grohl has taken to the stage with his pride and joy – his twelve-year-old daughter Violet. The pair took to the stage together at Fox Theater in Oakland, California at the Notes & Words benefit concert, in which all proceeds will go towards UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

Dave took the reigns on the guitar, whilst Violet showed off her serious vocal chops, singing Adele’s ‘When We Were Young’, off her record-breaking 2015 release 25.

Despite being just twelve years old, Violet displayed a serious maturity and nuance in her vocal styling. She pulled off every melody and vocal run with total seasoned professionalism – we’re not surprised she’s ultra-talented, considering Dave’s wide-reaching musical abilities.

Grohl also invited his other daughter, Harper, again following in the footsteps of her dad with her slick drumming abilities, to play through the Foo Fighters track ‘The Sky Is A Neighborhood’.

Continuing the family affair, the three ended the show with a classic cover of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’, whilst Dave used the rest of the show to play acoustic versions of much loved Foo Fighters tracks.

Setlist:

Everlong

Learn to Fly

Times Like These

Cold Day in the Sun

My Hero

Best of You

When We Were Young (Adele cover) (Violet Grohl on lead vocals)

The Sky Is a Neighborhood (Violet Grohl and Harper Grohl on backing vocals)

We Will Rock You (Queen cover) (Violet Grohl on lead vocals, Harper Grohl on drums)

Violet isn’t the only young gun to share the stage with Dave as of late. Just last week an eight-year-old drummer by the name of ‘Little Fonzie’ hopped onstage with the band to tear through a massive 3-minute solo. The pint-sized percussionist enjoyed the limelight so much that Dave resorted to luring him off stage with the promise of a can of Coke.

“Hey, Little Fonzie, can I have my concert back?” said Grohl, who even called for Fonzie’s father’s assistance in dragging him off the stage

There’s o denying he had serious chops – so much so, that if Taylor Hawkins needs to step down any time soon, young Fonz should be more than capable of the job.
