Troye Sivan Stars in Heartbreaking New Film About Gay Conversion Therapy
LGBTQ+ icon and all around angel Troye Sivan has appeared in the trailer for upcoming film ‘Boy Erased’, an emotional drama about a teenage boy sent to gay conversion therapy by his highly religious parents. Sivan plays another character who has been placed in the program, seen offering advice to the deeply troubled protagonist in the trailer.
“Tell them what they want to hear,” Troye says in his best American accent. “Play the part. Unless you really think you can change, or even want to.”
‘Boy Erased’ is based on author Garrard Conley’s 2016 memoir of the same name, which tells the true story of his experience in a gay conversion therapy camp as a teenager.
The film stars Lucas Hedges as Jared, the young boy put into the program where he meets Troye’s character Gary. Nicole Kidman plays Jared’s highly religious mother, with Russell Crowe starring as his Baptist preacher father.
We can’t wait to see him back on the silver screen.
