The Vines’ original lineup is reuniting to support Jet in Sydney
Sydney’s very own garage rock legends, The Vines are set to reunite for two special performances on Jet’s upcoming ‘Get Re-born’ tour. This year marks 14-years since the band’s fateful show at Sydney’s Annandale Hotel in which bass player Patrick Matthews walked off stage mid-set and into a cab, never to play with the band again.
The band will be joining Jet during the Sydney leg of their upcoming tour, in celebration of the 15 year anniversary of their landmark album Get Born, playing shows at the Enmore and Metro Theatre.
The two bands shared the stage together back in 2004, touring through the USA and bonded over their penchant for garage rock rowdiness – we’re sure this show will prove ultra-nostalgic for fans of early 00s Aussie music.
The Vines will perform tracks off their much loved first two albums, Highly Evolved and Winning Days, featuring some of their biggest hits including ‘Get Free’.
The Vines’ frontman Craig Nicholls took to the stage with the Killers in Sydney last week to assist in a rousing performance of ‘When We Were Young’ and ‘Get Free.’ A release date for the band’s follow up to 2014’s Wicked Nature, In Miracle Land is still unknown and, celebrated Highly Evolved’s 15th-anniversary last year with a vinyl re-release.
