Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul’s tragic cause of death revealed

Over the weekend, the music world was rocked by the news of Vinnie Paul, drummer of Pantera’s death. The rocker died at aged 54, and since then, many fellow musicians have shared tributes honouring his legacy. At the time of his passing, no cause of death was specified.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, sources close to Paul have revealed that he died of a “major heart attack” during his sleep on Friday, June 22nd in his home in Las Vegas.

Paul’s death was announced over a Facebook post on Pantera’s official page, reading, “Vincent Paul Abbott aka Vinnie Paul has passed away. Paul is best known for his work as the drummer in the bands Pantera and Hellyeah. The family requests you please respect their privacy during this time.”

Paul’s body is now with a medical examiner to verify his cause of death, as reported by TMZ, and will be flown to Texas to be buried with his mother and brother.

Over the weekend, musicians like Slash, Dave Mustaine, Paul Stanley and more have paid tribute to the late drummer.

“Vinnie…..to the man with the slickest kicks and the best vibe ALWAYS. You inspired us all, not only with your music but with your love and hospitality. You were one in a million, and will be missed…” said Foo Fighters in a tweet.

“Tragic news about Vinnie Paul today. He was one of the warmest people I knew. A truly good & fun friend. We’re going to miss you more than you could possibly have known. RIP buddy,” said Slash.

Vinnie Paul was a founding member of legendary metal band Pantera, alongside his brother and lead guitarist of Pantera, ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott.
