Objects disappearing from Fortnite have started showing up in the real world

Fortnite’s catastrophic in-game event, involving a laser-guided rocket creating a monstrous crack in the sky, has been fascinating to watch – but things have become extra special now that in-game objects have started disappearing through rifts in-game, and appearing in our own world.

As IGN reports, a photographer by the name of Sela Shiloni was wandering around the Californian desert, doing some unrelated location-scouting, when he discovered an unusual scene and rightly asked Twitter what the hell was going on.

The googly-eyed burger is of course Fortnite’s beloved Durr Burger, and fans of the game quickly gave him an update, although some also accused him of photoshopping the scene, leading him to post a video too.

As it turned out, the full scene also included an ’80s-model police car and several signs giving small hints as to the cause of the burger’s sudden trip through time and space. “This site is unstable. Beware of possible effects,” reads one, while another explains “If you can read this you’re in range of the anomaly.”

We’re loving Epic Games’ dedication to this event, which IGN reports extends even further, with some people who’ve visited the burger site having been greeted by a man who handed them a business card. On it read ‘Agent #3678’ and the phone number ‘712-380-4091’ which, when called, plays back the sound of one of Fortnite’s objects disappearing into a rift – very cool stuff.

Curious, various Fortnite fans have since gone searching for the Durr Burger themselves. Games entertainment and esports group DooM Clan found it and were handed a business card by an unidentified man. On one side the card reads “Agent #3678,” with the phone number 712-380-4091 written on it. IGN called the number and heard a garbled version of the Fornite sound effect from when an object is sucked through a rift.

If you happen to be in the area and want to get in on the fun, the precise location has been identified as 15160 E Ave S, Llano, CA 93544. Otherwise, the next Fortnite season is about to start, so we shouldn’t have to wait long to see how these strange occurrences are going to change the game.
