Missed the Royal Wedding? Just grab the vinyl version instead!
In case you missed it, this weekend saw the latest entry in the Royal Wedding series occur over in England. However, if you were one of the unlucky (or lucky, depending on your point of view) people to have missed out on the festivities, then we’ve got good news, because it’s coming to a record player near you.
Yes, Saturday, May 19th saw Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle, and by all accounts, it was a right royal affair (pun intended) which was attended by some pretty high profile names. Now, it has been revealed that the whole thing will be coming to a turntable near you quite soon.
As Billboard notes, the entirety of the 2018 Royal Wedding is set to be released on all major streaming services, including Spotify and Apple Music, and will also be accompanied by a vinyl release.
“Capturing the words and music of this Royal Wedding is a great responsibility, knowing how much a permanent record of the event will mean to so many people around the world,” explained producer Anna Barry in a press release. “Our Decca team will deliver a state of the art recording which captures every nuance of this very happy day and it will be a joy to be a part of the celebrations.”
Of course, you might be a little wary of this idea, after all, how interesting can it really be? Well, in addition to the vows, fanfare, and announcements, the recording also features appearances from the likes of Welsh soprano Elin Manahan Thomas,British cellist Sheku Kanneh Mason, the Choir of St. George’s Chapel, and the Kingdom Choir.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like Elton John scored himself an appearance on the release, though he did perform a number of well-known tracks, including ‘Tiny Dancer’, ‘Your Song’, and the 1997 version of ‘Candle In The Wind’, which was originally reworked for the funeral of Princess Diana.
The Royal Wedding is set to be released on physical media May 25th, but if you can’t wait, check out some highlights of the wedding below so you can try it before you buy it.
