Looks like Bon Jovi are getting ready to announce an Aussie tour
It’s been a solid five years since New Jersey rock icons Bon Jovi graced Aussie audiences with their presence, but if some social media posts from their tour manager are to be believed, that could all be about to change.
Taking to Instagram yesterday, Matthew Bongiovi, the group’s tour manager (and brother of frontman Jon Bon Jovi), took to Instagram to share a rather cryptic image to his legions of followers.
Posting a screenshot of the Jerry O’Connell-starring 2003 film Kangaroo Jack, Bongiovi captioned the image with the phrase, “Want to runaway with me?”
“So what,” we hear you complain. “Maybe he’s just a big fan of regrettable films featuring kangaroos?” Well, we considered that as well, but it all goes a bit deeper, with the mystery continuing over on Twitter.
At the start of the month, Bongiovi posted another film-related message, writing “We’re off to see the Wizard the wonderful Wizard of……….??” on Twitter. This was then followed up with a Tweet that read, “I think it’s about time to plan to runaway as far as I can possibly go…….”
Obviously it’s not too much of a stretch to assume that this is referring to Australia, so we now just have to wonder when and if we’ll be getting that official tour announcement.

It’s currently been five years since Bon Jovi toured Australia, when they visited in most major cities as part of their Because We Can tour in 2013. Thankfully, that tour also included Perth that time around, which is literally the furthest major city on Earth from New Jersey, so if Bongiovi really does want to “runaway as far as I can possibly go”, we can only hope our Western Australian friends will also be given some good news too.
As The Hearld Sun notes, news of this tour speculation has led to the band becoming one of the acts rumoured to play at the 2018 AFL Grand Final, which last year featured Las Vegas rockers The Killers.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, we’re pretty sure that Aussie music fans won’t say no to seeing Jon Bon Jovi and his crew back on Australian soil once again.
