Frances Bean loses Kurt Cobain’s MTV Unplugged guitar
If you have an unwavering faith in the U.S. justice system, you may wish to stop reading now.
Frances Bean Cobain has reportedly been forced to give up her father’s 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic guitar — one of the late Nirvana frontman’s most celebrated instruments due to its use on Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged special — to her ex-husband in a divorce settlement.
Isaiah Silva, a fledgling musician in a band named The Eeries, has been battling for the guitar since mid-2016, claiming that Frances Bean gave him the instrument as a wedding present.
Courtney Love countered this, telling reporters the guitar is ““a treasured heirloom of the family…it’s not [Silva’s] to take…. We’re very close, and Frances never planned on doing that.”
Well, that’s a romantic gesture gone wrong!
Although Silva was awarded the guitar, you can bet this isn’t the last we hear about this.
