Check out Queens Of The Stone Age’s moving tribute to Anthony Bourdain

Friday evening, we received the tragic news that American celebrity chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain had sadly passed away. Now, Queens Of The Stone Age, fronted by Bourdain’s personal friend Josh Homme, has paid tribute to the late celebrity with an emotional performance in Denmark over the weekend.

Back in 2011, Josh Homme was featured on an episode of Bourdain’s No Reservations, which took him into the Mojave Desert desert in Southern California. Forming a close relationship with the celebrity chef, Homme teamed up with Mark Lanegan to compose the theme to Bourdain’s subsequent series, Parts Unknown.

Following news of Anthony Bourdain’s passing, Josh Homme took to Twitter to share a rather emotional tribute, writing “Dammit Tony. I’m so sorry. I’m so destroyed. I love you brother. I miss you too much already.”

“I’m heartbroken,” echoed former QOTSA member Mark Lanegan. “Bourdain was such a positive force in my life and so many others. A great friend and artist. What a sad fucking day”

Now, as Pitchfork notes, the Queens Of The Stone Age frontman has dedicated a performance of ‘Long Slow Goodbye’ to Anthony Bourdain while performing at the NorthSide Festival in Denmark on Friday night, just hours after Bourdain’s passing.

“Sometimes you lose somebody,” explained a sombre Josh Homme to the crowd. “And today we lost somebody. So this song is for Tony.”

Queens Of The Stone Age are currently on track to return to Australia later this year for a headline tour which will see them hit up Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne, and Adelaide, before wrapping up their tour in Perth.
