Brisbane’s Columbus postpone tour following guitarist’s departure
Brisbane trio Columbus should be gearing up to head out on tour in support of their latest album, however the group have announced today that all upcoming tour dates have been postponed following the departure of their guitarist.
Taking to Facebook a short time ago, band members Alex Moses and Daniel Seymour announced that longtime guitarist Ben Paynter parted ways with the group.
“We regret to announce Ben’s departure from the band,” the group wrote on Facebook. “Unfortunately this means we have also taken the decision to postpone our upcoming headline tour.”
“We want to be in the right headspace when we perform and ensure we are able to provide you with the show you deserve.”
“As a result we will take a short break to get ourselves right but will announce new dates as soon as possible,” they continued. “We are sorry for the change in plans and apologise to everyone who has already purchased tickets.”
“Thanks everyone for their ongoing love and support, especially following the release of our new album. We will be back soon.”
While no reason was given for Paynter’s departure, this news comes a matter of weeks after the release of their latest album, A Hot Take On Heartbreak, which was released back in May.
The group’s three-date tour was set to kick off on June 15th and would have seen the group hitting up Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane in the span of a week. The group have revealed that refunds for all shows are available from the point of purchase.
We wish the band all the best while they take some time off to regroup, and we hope to see them back on the road again soon.
