As most blink-182 fans are aware, the band retired the iconic 1999 track ‘Adam’s Song’ off Enema Of The State from their setlist after their close friend Adam Goldstein (better known as DJ AM) died of a drug overdose in 2009.

Back in 2012, Mark Hoppus revealed on a Reddit thread that it was “the hardest song to sing for him” because of it’s close hitting meaning, saying that it would be permanently retired from the band’s setlist.

Now, the band have revived the song live for the first time in nine years, as part of their expansive setlist played on the first night of their Las Vegas residency. The live performance sees Matt Skiba on backing vocals, much like the originally recorded track features, adding an ethereal layer to the emotional song – although the meaning behind the song is melancholic, seeing the band perform it live once again would’ve been a truly special experience for fans.

The band’s setlist on the first night of the tour also featured multiple other blink fan-favourites like ‘Wendy Clear’ and ‘The Party Song’ as well as tracks off their 2016 release California. Mark Hoppus admitted on Twitter that it was one of the longest setlists the band have played in years.

Mark Hoppus also recently revealed that the band’s upcoming album would harken back to the sound featured on their 2001 release Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, sending fans into hysterics in anticipation for a follow-up to their last album. They were spotted in the studio in late April so hopefully we could expect new blink tunes towards the tail end of the year.
