Ben and Liam take shots at Triple M following recent triple j privatisation rumours

Last week, it was reported that the Liberal government recently held a vote in favour of selling public broadcaster triple j. As the Industry Observer noted, a multitude of changes would occur if the station were to face privatisation, including the presence of ads and a lessened focus on fostering homegrown artists.

For dedicated listeners of the j, it sounds like a pretty awful idea. If you were worried your favourite youth broadcaster might become yet another Ed Sheeran streaming service,  Minister for Communications Mitch Fifield noted on Hack that the station’s privatisation isn’t going to happen.

With all the chatter of commercialisation becoming a possibility, it seems morning presenters Ben and Liam have received an insight into what the station might sound like if privatisation were to occur. Back in March last year, the hilarious duo took shots at Triple M’s “meat pie footy accadacca culture” with the characters “Shitstick” and “Zipper”

Yesterday, it looked as though “Shitstick” and “Zipper” “slid into their DMs” to give them a taste of what the future may have held for triple j.

Check it out for yourself:

In March last year, the two first gifted the world with “Shitstick” and “Zipper” as they “tuned into” another un-named radio station.
