Actor Jeff Goldblum is releasing his debut album this year
He’s spent the last 44 years crafting a film career that most could only ever dream of, but now Jeff Goldblum is set to embark upon a new career path, with the 65-year-old actor’s debut album being set for release later this year.
As Billboard reports, Jeff Goldblum has recently signed with Decca Records after label executives witnessed his performance as a pianist for Gregory Porter on The Graham Norton Show last year.
Goldblum reportedly learnt to play classical piano as a child before moving over to jazz as a teenager, playing cocktail lounges and other various venues. He can still be seen performing frequently with his band, the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, but this will mark the first time he’s ever entered a studio to record tracks for an album.
“As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum,” stated Tom Lewis, Decca’s director of A&R. “He’s a fantastic jazz pianist, a great band leader and just about the loveliest man in the world. His love of jazz is infectious and whenever he plays he makes you feel very happy.”
“If we can take Jeff’s music into people’s homes then we will be helping, in our own small way, to make the world a happier place.”
“I’m so happy to be in cahoots with the wonderful people at Decca, one of the coolest and most prestigious labels of all time,” revealed Goldblum of the signing.
While Goldblum’s music career is on the up-and-up he’s set to reprise his famous role of Dr. Ian Malcolm for the upcoming film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which is set to be released next month.
There’s no word yet if Jeff Goldblum will be pulling a David Duchovny and hitting the road in support of his new musical venture, but if he does, we hope he, uh, finds a way to come on down to Australia again.
