5 Seconds Of Summer just smashed an Aussie chart record

There’s no hiding we’re riding the 5 Seconds Of Summer hype train in the lead up to the release of their upcoming third album Youngblood next month, and it seems like the rest of Australia is cottoning on as well.

The band, who recently returned home to Sydney to perform at the coveted Metro Theatre have recently smashed a two-year Aussie chart record with the soaring alt-pop banger ‘Youngblood’, according to The Music. The track is the first Aussie song to top the ARIA singles charts in two-years, after Drake’s ‘God’s Plan’, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’ and Luis Fonsi’s ‘Despacito’ took the reigns during the first half of the year.

The last Aussie act to nab the number one spot was The Veronicas with ‘In My Blood’ in 2016, who took over from Flume with ‘Never Be Like You’.

Just last week 5SOS announced a massive homecoming tour set for August this year, where they’ll be making their way back to arenas around the country to give fans a taste of what the album has to offer, as well as tear through tracks from their now expansive back catalogue of tunes.
