5 Reasons To Check Out Bluesfest In 2020
There really is no festival like Bluesfest. Over the last 30 years, Byron Bay's iconic Bluesfest has continued to deliver an unforgettable experience, bringing punters countless days full of performances from amazing artists, delicious food and a growing sense of community.
If you haven't been to Bluesfest before, here are five reasons why you should.
THE LINEUP
When it comes to a fantastic mix of headliners, first-timers and returning favourites, Bluesfest certainly nails this balance. This Easter, the festival welcomes huge acts including Patti Smith, Dave Matthews Band, Crowded House and Lenny Kravits to the stage, alongside debut acts, Greensky Bluegrass, The Marcus King Band, Yola and so many more.
BLUESFEST BUSKING COMPETITION
The Bluesfest Busking Competition has become quite the tradition, showcasing up-and-coming Aussie talent on the big stage. The competition is spread out over Byron Bay on the lead up to the festival with the winning acts performing on the Bluesfest Delta Stage. Past contestants include the likes of Kim Churchill, Tones and I and 2019 winner Electrik Lemonade.
A FIRST NATIONS FESTIVAL FOR ALL AUSTRALIANS
Boomerang Indigenous festival features the very best that our First Nations culture has to offer. The festival incorporates traditional art, talks and ideas, workshops and showcases emerging musicians and dancers, all run during Bluesfest. It's a fantastic opportunity to discover, celebrate and enjoy the world's oldest instruments, dance and rituals along with traditional art practices and musical workshops over three days.
"There were the sun and the sand grounds, and then there were all of us together on the crest of a new beginning. It's obvious the people will return for this experience and for our people it will be a returning of the culture." - Bundjalong Woman and Festival Director, Rhoda Roberts.
DISCOVER NEW ARTISTS
Over the years, music discovery has often been credited as key to Bluesfest' success. It is the perfect place to spread your wings and go dance to something groovy that you've never heard before. You will not be disappointed.
AN ARTIST COLLAB POWERHOUSE
Imagine getting to see your favourite acts collaborating on stage in front of you. Well, with Bluesfest's track record there is every chance of this happening over the five-day festival.
