Zagoria Quartet
The Zagoria Quartet explore the sounds of Southern Africa, Southern Spain and the Middle East blurring the boundaries of traditional music, folk and jazz.
Ilan Zagoria developed his driving and intricate Southern African guitar style growing up in Zimbabwe.
In Australia, Ilan has supported artists such as Yothu Yindi, Blur, Zap Mama, Natasha Atlas and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
In Perth, Ilan has played and recorded with award winning world music groups such as Sundiata Marimba Band, African Music Congress and Shangara Jive.
He established the Zagoria Quartet a few years ago to perform his own brand of rhythmic and melodic world-jazz music with influences from Southern Africa and the Middle East.
The blend of guitar, mbira (thumb piano), saxophone, percussion and bass deliver a brew of musical energy designed for dancing heads and feet.
