The PERTH BLUES CLUB presents
Tobacco Roadband + The Rough Housers
Tobacco Roadband |7.30pm
Dave and Colin met through playing double bills with their own respective bands. It didn’t take long for these two to realise that they were into the same types of music. Music played with ‘feel and balls’ and so the Tobacco Road Band was born!
After a few years rockin round Perth the band had and few lineup changes. Recruiting a new rhythm section machine was imperative to keep this motor running, that’s when Dave turned to long time collaborator Jim Awram to see if he was interested in playing bass, Luckily Jim was up for it, Jim in turn suggested Michael Arkins behind the kit and the new lineup was complete! This Embryonic Blues Band soon morphed into something more. Drawing on all of the influences of the four, Tobacco Road has developed it’s own raw edged, hard hitting sound.
The Rough Housers | 8.45pm
The Rough Housers are a trio of rockabilly lovin’ dudes, bringing energetic fun to audiences with their own versions of great rock ‘n’ roll and rockabilly classics from years gone by. Formed by three members of popular local group Murphy’s Lore with a mutual love of rock ‘n’ roll, country and rockabilly, The Rough Housers set out to get people up and dancing. The trio consists of local gun guitarist Jason ‘J Eddy’ Smith on hollow-body twanging geetar, Mr Kieran Murphy on standin’ up drums and hollerin’, and Shaun ‘110th’ Street on upright bass and background hollerin’. Following on from the famed work of such luminaries as Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochrane, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Ronnie Hawkins and the king himself Elvis Presley, The Rough Housers are getting ready to bring down the house.
