Julian James n Ezra Lee - Limited run! at Welcome Swallow (under the Spotted Mallard) on Thursday 19 September

FREE ENTRY

This is a limited run of two of Melbourne's finest blues musicians! A not to be missed show of high energy Piano/guitar blues combo!

Still in his twenties, Julian James has spent most of his adult life on the road, first as front man of Blues festival heroes ‘Catfish Voodoo’ and on his own. ‘Silver Spades’ is the second album in his catalogue as a solo artist and Julian brings the experience of a seasoned performer and a fresh perspective to this set of traditional songs by artists like Ma Rainey and early Muddy Waters, as well as originals like the title track Silver Spade.

Tales of love, loss and debauchery from 2018 sit happily with their ancestors from the 1930’s as James deliver his laconic vintage drawl from some porch or other.

Ezra Lee, inspired by country stars Hank Williams and George Jones as well as 1950s rock 'n' roll legends Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Fats Domino.

In 2009 Ezra Lee released two albums on Preston Records and in 2010 Ezra starred in the theatre show The Ultimate Rock 'n’ Roll Jam Session around Australia and a month at The Sydney Opera House with James Blundell, Nick Barker, Dave Larkin and Doug Parkinson. In April 2011 Ezra Lee supported Jerry Lee Lewis in Las Vegas. In 2012 Ezra signed with European label Rhythm Bomb Records and supported Wanda Jackson on The Party Aint Over Tour. Ezra is currently signed to Melbourne label Cat House Music.
