A koala impresario stages a grand singing competition for the world's animals in order to save his elegant theatre.

Energetic entrepreneur koala, Buster Moon (voice of Matthew McConaughey), hasn't had a hit show in his beautiful old theatre for a long time and the bank is threatening to foreclose. So he decides to hold open auditions for all animals in preparation for staging a great singing competition.
The competition becomes grander than he anticipates and the finalists' find that their lives will never be the same.
