Obscura Hail "Playing Dead" Album Launch @ Shotkickers

Join Naarm/Melbourne based trio Obscura Hail for the launch of the band's new album 'Playing Dead' out March 1st (Dot Dash/Remote Control Records).

After letting the dust settle on their widely supported double EP ‘Siren’ (2020) "consoling, cathartic indie rock that will make you feel less alone" - NME, Sean Conran, Tamara Issa, and Kaelan Emond of Obscura Hail, return to mellow things down and return to roots.

Amassing a fiercely loyal following, “The perfect song wraps the memories of the listener in those of the writer until you can’t tell what is yours and what isn’t" - The Guardian and widely supported across Australian radio, "Drawing on the power of memories, the Melbourne based trio have produced their finest work so far" - Triple J - Obscura Hail have performed alongside Kele Okereke (Block Party), Aldous Harding, Julia Jacklin, Cam Avery (Tame Impala, Pond) Soaked Oats, Bad Dreems and Hayley Mary to name a few, and have appeared at Brunswick Music Festival, Sydney Road Street Festival, By The Meadow Festival, Changes Festival, Kyneton Music Festival, Isol-Aid Festival & Bigsound 2019 + many more.

Blushing in between some of the band’s favourite artists, Obscura Hail's 'Playing Dead' remains a testament to Sean Conran’s diy indie song-writing style; a nightly ritual of writing and recording to give closure to anxious thoughts of mortality and ontology through ad-hoc means. "Obscura Hail cement their reputation as an outfit with a firm grasp of the emotional zeitgeist, handling modern-day heaviness with the gentle, clear-eyed intelligence of forebears like The Cure and Sujan Stevens." - theMusic.com.au

The full band display cross sections of this personal routine. In a live setting, think beautiful projections, atmospheric acoustic percussion, loops and the use of drum machines blended with biting guitars."Obscura Hail are as proficient as they are charming" - Double J

Obscura Hail come to you harmonised, dynamic and existentially curated. If you're in the right place at the right time; you may also witness an accompanying set of home-stitched visuals that translate the themes of these seemingly optimistic songs, "A perfect song of escape. Feels like good timing." - Richard Kingsmill, in a way you cannot unsee. "I'm a goner. How absolutely beautiful." - Zan Rowe

Proving an obsessive commitment to songwriting as a craft, Obscura Hail externalise memory for the sake of preservation.
